We're committed to building Houston's future. One job at a time.

WorkReady Houston, a comprehensive program inspired by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, provides job readiness and occupational training for Houston-area workers who are interested in expanding their existing skills or acquiring new construction-related skills and knowledge. The initiative supports the needs of Houston Rapid Transit and its subcontractors as construction progresses on the METRORail expansion project.

  • Equipment operator

  • Truck driver

  • Rebar installer
Teaches how to secure steel bars or mesh in concrete forms for reinforcement and how to use a variety of fasteners, blowtorches and hand tools, as well as how to bend rods.
